mAadhar | Get the right app by UIDIA

Before writing this article I tried this application or app on my android phone and was really very disappointed after reading the reviews believe me they weren’t pretty.

But ignoring them I decided to download and install the app(curiosity made me look stupid), well jokes apart, the small size app downloaded really fast but finding the official app was the most time consuming task. The official mAadhar app doesn’t even show up while searching on Google Playstore so I have to lookup some official sites reporting the launch to get to the right app.

If you are having troubles finding the official mAadhar app on playstore, just click here.

The application enables users to store their Aadhaar card virtually. The app carries demographic information like name, date of birth, gender and user’s photograph that is linked with your Aadhaar number. The app comes with a biometric locking/unlocking system and once you enable it, your biometric remains locked till you chose to either Unlock it (which is temporary) or Disable the Locking system. Now let me tell you, the app is not that troublesome while using it but there are certain security issues.

How to use:

  1. After installing, Open the app, Enter your Aadhaar number. One can also scan QR code present on your Aadhaar card as well.
  2. The app will then send an OTP number to your registered number.
  3.  After verifications, the app will ask some permissions and then you can create a new desired password.
  4.  Now you would be redirected to the home menu, where you can see your Aadhar card.
  5. Finally using your password you can access your digital copy of Aadhar card.

UIDIA is very positive towards the digitization of Aadhar card but identity theft is a huge issue using it. The mAadhar launch has also gained some attention while our nation fights for Rights to Privacy Fundamentals.
